(xD I wasn't actually aware that she warned anyone...) Scarlet waved it off. "Not a problem." She lowered her voice. "I mean, some people can just tell what's going to happen. In the future. Do you find?" Scarlet smirked, sitting back in her seat. Hint hint. "I hope you get what I mean." Witch. The word didn't accompany the sentence, but rather hung in the air, unspoken. Scarlet wanted to be obvious, but not too obvious. Hopefully she could strike up a normal conversation with the blonde. Scarlet needed to test her, push the witch's buttons. Hardly wanting to waste time, Scarlet got to the point. "You know, I know that you're a witch." Scarlet let the girl process this and calmly awaited her reaction.

(( xD sorry, I thought that was her coming in calling out death))
"But it's still a big deal when you think about it." She gave her an encouraging look. "I suppose," she replied. "I've met someone who thought he could once before, but didn't stick around long enough to see if he was any good at it."
The last comment was what struck her. "...Do you, now?" She was disturbed, but still intrigued all the same. "Well, that's good news- one more person I don't have to worry about seeing what I do." She gave off a welcoming wave. "That doesn't mean you came all the way to the Philippines for my sake, does it?" Because then we'd have a problem.

(That's okay. xD) So it was true. The girl was a witch. Scarlet shook her head. "Until today, I didn't know you existed. I assure you." She paused. "I'm here on... business." Deciding to test her a bit further, she went on. "I'm a vampire, if you were wondering." The girl couldn't do anything to her, even if she hated vampires. Not in board daylight and certainly not with her powers. "Now I'm wondering if you see me as a monster, given the blood and all." She was outrightly curious. "And I also wonder what side you're on. You've been bound to have notice all the battles, right? Humans finding out?" Scarlet didn't waste any time getting down to the point. She was straight-forward, and prided herself in such a thing, weirdly enough. People just wasted time talking and being "mysterious."

A vampire. She was only half-sure they existed, but if they did, they must have been Arcanists by force. After all, how can a being that feeds on humans exist in a world where humans knew what was really going on around them? "People kill each other for cheap reasons every day. I'm not going to judge you because you live on them." She told a half-truth, but didn't let it show in her expression.
"...Side," she opened again. "I'm not on either- I'm hoping I never have to be." That time, she was telling the truth. "Maybe I'm a coward, but I'd rather live life the way I have been than struggle for a cause. Believe me, I know what's going on, but... I don't need a part in it."

A thoughtful approach on vampires, she reasoned. Scarlet couldn't tell if she was lying from her expression or words. The girl was probably telling the truth, was the inference. Still, you always had to be wary. "Believe me, I know what's going on.. But I don't need a part in it." Scarlet nodded, eyes narrowing. "Of course. You can very well stay clear of sides for now.." Scarlet paused, thinking about her next words. "But someday, you'll have to choose. Only dragons have the excuse of... Not doing so." The lucky species. All-powerful and neutral? That was the life. But still, Scarlet liked having something important to do. Scarlet realized something suddenly, something she had forgotten to do. Even a sadistic vampiress as her kept her manners. "Oh, yes! How... Silly of me. My name is Scarlet Dare." Many magical beings knew of her, she guessed, but this one surely wouldn't.

Have to choose? "That's what they told me when they said to pick a major, and I'm doing pretty well for myself without one," she countered.
On a lighter note, she extended a hand. "I'm Corinne." Her expression remained welcoming, but she conveniently left out her last name. "It's great to meet you, but we should probably make some semblance of an attempt to get out of here." Her eyes rolled back to the restaurant, but her hand kept a tight grip on her suitcase.
"I don't know if you're here often, but Quezon City is usually a lot nicer than this," she reassured. "not that I'll be staying long after... that."

Aha. So she was bothered by the host's death. That wasn't entirely reassuring. Witches were hard to come by, even harder to keep. No matter. One loss wasn't fatal. And the witch wasn't entirely sharp, anyway, thinking she could get away with leaving out her first name. As if that would do much good against a vampire like herself. This was of course, Scarlet assuming fear from the blonde. Scarlet answered the girl, also trying to be a bit more discreet. "Yes. Shame. I'll have you know that I feed on animals sometimes, to spare my guilt and regret." This wasn't entirely true, but who could tell? A lie wouldn't appear on this woman's face. Scarlet was quite the actress sometimes. She had actually aspired to become one, before she became a monster. Then? Acting became much easier. She had turned off her emotions, but could mimic them easily. There was another reason for this, although Scarlet never revealed much of her past to anyone. "The craving is impossible to resist, though. It takes control of you like nothing else can." Scarlet smiled sadly. Ah. Her first truth.

Feeding on animals... it must not have been very different from eating meat. Corinne - and, as she assumed, most other people - rarely felt bad about making a meal out of something that once moved. Perhaps that would ease her guilt just a bit. "I'm not sure any of them compare, but even humans develop cravings sometimes." The thought back to her mother; the woman was probably still a raging alcoholic if she wasn't dead.
"...It might not be all bad, though," she insisted. "If there was no food chain, we'd all be starved or overpopulated." She didn't want to think about the restaurant, but she had to make a point of it. "Why don't you just feed on someone like that murderer in there? You'd be getting what you need, and probably saving three other people."

You'd be getting what you need, and probably saving three other people." Scarlet wanted to smile. The girl was getting it, she was reasonable. "You know, many do. It's hard to know if someone is guilty for sure, though, isn't it? Besides, if vampires actually rounded up everyone who murdered, stole or trespassed, there would be no criminals left on earth. All too scared to even think to commit a crime."

She laughed lightly. "Maybe there wouldn't be any criminals," she replied, "But would we really be better off? I'm not sure if we're from the same place, but if Martin Luther King never tried to break the law, America still might have been going through something pretty tragic." Maybe it was too early to make a point of how the law didn't necessarily signify justice.
"There are a lot of criminals... but what I'm saying is there are some people we just don't need." Her logic was cold sometimes, but her pragmatism usually served her well enough. "But my point is I'm not going to get on your case for getting rid of a few of them." Her welcoming expression wasn't politically correct after what she had just said, but in the company she was keeping, she excused herself.

"There are a lot of criminals... but what I'm saying is there are some people we just don't need." Scarlet listened intently, and the words seemed cold. Even enough for herself to say. "But my point is I'm not going to get on your case for getting rid of a few of them." Aha. She wouldn't bother the vampires, then. Scarlet had to admit, she didn't think that the girl was all that logical before, but perhaps she underestimated her abilities. "Well, Corinne, I'm sure that you're the first to feel that way about vampires."

She laughed audibly in response to the way Scarlet closed her statement. "You really think I'm the first?" She asked again. "If I'm the first other person to feel that way about vampires, that could either mean that this world we're living in is either full of the kindest, most warm-hearted people you could ever imagine (and I know that isn't true)," she opened, pausing with a smile.
"Or it could mean that humankind has just been thriving on its own idiocy for thousands of years." She looked around, still watching the crowd of confused, firightened people around them. "With Exhibit A all around us," she started, waving a hand toward the masses, "and the way I've studied and looked into history, I might be more partial to believing that one." Corinne still wasn't sure how exactly she felt, but she seemed to be doing well with the route she was taking the convesation in.
