CoffeeShops, A place where Nathan basically lived at on a daily basis. The sweet aromas of coffee beans in the back being roasted, and the several pastries being baked in the back. To him, this was a place where only gods gathered to eat in peace. Well, peace was a little over exaggerated. Coffee shops were always loud and full of people eating, drinking, and having an overall good time. Nathan sat in the corner of the shop, sipping at a black coffee and eating his peanut butter sandwich he threw in his backpack for lunch. His classes for his course didn’t start until 2:30 and he loved to waste time checking out various shops and places in the area. He looked down at the silver watch wrapped around his wrist. 11:56AM. He still had around two hours to waste before wandering back to school to attempt living through his boring classes. Nathan was struggling in his courses. His main plan was to get into the medical field and prove to his rich parents that he could do things on his own and without their help.
Nathan picked up his backpack off of the seat in front to him and went to pick up his hooded sweater before remembering that there was no need, because he was still wearing it. He wanted to clear off the seat he filled with his clutter since the shop was beginning to fill up and someone might need a seat. Though, if anyone chose to sat near him he hoped they weren’t awkward or an elderly person who wanted to share the story of their entire life. He looked at the piece of His sandwich that was left; too small to break into two pieces but perhaps a little bit too big to try and fit in all at once. This didn't stop him in any way. Hoping that nobody would really notice, she just about got the piece of sandwich into his mouth, in a considerably barbaric manner. "Mmm," His tone was muffled by His mouthful of sandwich as he began to chew his over stuffed mouth. He brought his coffee up to his mouth and sipped back a large sip to wash the peanut butter sandwich down comfortably. His mind for the moment has distracted on his study material. He needed to get through the rest of the chapter, which was only two pages and finish some written notes before class started. The tip of his pen rested between his two front teeth as he tried to read and understand some of the study material.

"Mind if I sit?" Aliyah Black asked the guy who was sitting in the coffee shop. Conveniently, he was sitting in the only free table left. The other tables were all almost full, but she didn't think that the others looked too welcoming. They really need to... Expand. Aliyah sat down at the table. If he was bothered by her, he would tell her to get up and leave, after all. It wouldn't hurt to rest her legs a moment. After all, she had been walking all around town for the last three hours. Browsing landmarks and so-called "must-sees" wasn't doing very much good for her tired feet. Aliyah was moving into town for a few months, just to try and settle down after her I'm-a-dragon(!) shock. It was really quite surprising, finding out about magic. Every single day after her discovery, she observed the world around her. Who could be a witch? A vampire? Gasp, a shapeshifter? She had met a total of zero dragons so far, which was disappointing. But hopefully one day, she would. Aliyah had so much to learn. But for right now, her main focus was to blend in, become (kind of) normal. She missed her old life, fun as this one was. Leaving Mitchell was hard, but for the best. Nobody understood, as her parents and brother had proved. She was going to start a new life, even if she lost her love. Now Aliyah needed friends, relationships, ties. She wasn't a god-damn robot. Hmm. Suddenly, she got an idea, one that she was foolish not to realize earlier. The guy beside her must have been a local. Perhaps he could- err, enlighten her, show her around? "Hey, are you from this city of-" Crap. She had already forgotten the name. Short attention span. But no worries. He would help her out anyway, right? Quickly, the dragon ordered a coffee, although she didn't care what kind. Oh, no, not black. Did I just order black? Aliyah smiled, silently laughing at herself. Her absent-minded was quite the issue sometimes. She didn't even like black coffee.

Nathans eyes squinted at his homework as the words seemed to all blend together. Spending the night glaring at words, sleeping for a couple hours and get up to do it all over again didn’t take so kindly on his sight. A deep, elongated sigh escaped his lips. He was sick of school work already and the course had such a heavy load he couldn’t help but drop it all together. He began to click his pen in a sort of annoying fashion, but it probably wouldn’t be noticed by all the peoples chatter. The table in front of his spoke far too loudly that Nathan could recite everything in their lives. Some woman by the name, Charlie, Burnt all the cookies in the oven. I’m Sorry if you find that tragic and all, but do you really have to speak that loudly? Nathan thought, squinting his eyes in their general direction for a moment. He looked up to his left as a woman stood beside him asking if she could take a seat. Of course he would let her sit there and enjoy her drink, that’s why he cleared the seat in the first place. “Oh, go ahead! I’m not waiting for anyone.” He said kindly before glancing back down at his books. Why did biology and micro-biology have to be so difficult to wrap the mind around? Most things in the course material were useless and wouldn’t be forced into the workforce. Like, main pigments that make up a skin tone? When ever will he need to name those off? He pressed the pen down on the paper to begin writing down a note from the end of chapter one, but it seemed no ink came out. Only creases on the paper from the pen. Nathan brought the tip of it up to examine it quickly. Looks like all the snapping of the pen caused me to forget to snap it back open He thought to himself. Quickly he clicked it open and wrote a note down from the page. His writing was far from neat, more of a chicken scratch that was only legible to himself.
The woman began to talk to him and Nathan looked up at her and raised his left eyebrow. Did she really not know where she was? Basically everyone in the world knew when they were here, it began quite obvious by the large sign on the hill. She really must have not been from around here, or got dumped out of the side of a truck. “…Los Angeles?” He said with a questioning tone. “If you only took a peak at the hill with the large white Hollywood sign.” He said, beginning to laugh. She really had forgotten or just really didn’t know where she was. A smile wiped across his lips before looking back at his notebook and writing random notes that probably wouldn’t make sense to him in the future.

"Los Angeles?" Aliyah's eyes widened and she started laughing. Los Angeles? How on earth did she end up there and not know where she was? "If you only took a peak at the hill with the large white Hollywood sign." He started laughing at her too, and it was for good reason. She didn't feel embarrassed though. "Good god, I think I might have left my brain in Italy." She laughed along. "I'm Aliyah, by the way." Her eyes searched the room before she spoke again. "I'm new, as you can tell." When her coffee came, she smiled at the waitress before looking at the cup and cringing. Definitely black, judging by the aroma. Oh well, she would drink, so not to make herself look like more of a fool than she already had. Taking a sip, she almost winced at its bitter taste. Except instead of gritting her teeth, she smiled through the bitter taste of black coffee. Realizing that smiling would also look kind of weird, she put down the coffee altogether. Hopefully he wouldn't see her disgust at the vile brown liquid.
