Kai's stomach growled eagerly as he walked down the side walk hands tucked deep within his pockets. He had been wandering aimlessly trying to find somewhere good to eat but of course he really didn't want to go somewhere overly pricey or fancy. Just a simple brunch to ease the hunger pains and Kai would be satisfied. As if by the grace of some miraculous higher power - the words Griddle Cafe was in front of his face as soon as he rounded the nearest corner. Without a moments hesitation Kai bounded his way toward the cafe. Opening the door - a tiny silver bell rang above him to announce his entrance. A rather plump woman with obviously dyed red hair was lingering behind the counter - digging for something underneath from prying eyes. Her head popped up, exceptionally trained from the bell and a plastered smile immediately took form on her thin red feathering lip stick stained lips. "Hey there handsome. You sit wherever you like!" She said with a thick british accent and with a wink before returning to her previous work.
Kai grinned at the woman and bobbed his head a single nod before entering the joint that smelled like hamburgers and grilled cheese. He made his way to the back, not too far that he would be neglected but far enough to get away from the hustle and bustle of the kitchen. He slid himself into the booth contently before slipping off his jacket and placing it beside him on the seat. It was a nice little place - something about it just seemed cozy and from the smell of it they really knew how to cook up an appetite. Only one other person sat near him and it was an elderly couple munching away on some french fries. His path of vision was suddenly blocked by the same short stocky woman wielding a menu in her hands. "Before I hand you your menu I would like tell you that our special of the day is actually tuna melt sandwiches served with a side of coleslaw." She then handed him the menu and flipped open a tiny white notepad from which she retrieved from her black apron. "What can I get you to drink, doll" She asked with curious eyes and a quick tap of her pen as she prepared to write. Kai knew one thing, he wasn't going to get the specials. From what he heard by various sources - specials weren't really anything special. It was just left over ingredients that the chef really needed to get rid of, chances were it was near expiration. Kai certainly didn't want close to expired tuna - the thought nearly made him cringe.
"Yeah, I will get an ice tea please. Sugar and lemon in it." Boy did Kai love his ice tea. He was pretty much just as bad as avid coffee drinkers. Tea was what made his world go round and on this slightly warmer day - he couldn't resist. "Certainly toots." The waitress responded before jotting it down quickly in her little notepad then scampered away back to the front of the cafe. Kai opened the menu with ease - pictures of various dishes lined the border which all looked entirely too delicious to him. Choices, choices. He decided he would just simply keep it traditional with a cheese burger and side of fries. He closed the menu almost immediately hoping the waitress would notice he was ready to order. She seemed preoccupied with another customer that was now walking into the cafe - the bell sounding again. Kai looked catching a glimpse of the newly found customer. Kai's waitress greeted them and told them the exact same thing she had told him. "Hello gorgeous, you sit anywhere you like!"

DREW ANTHONY HALLOW Male • Taken • Vampire Drew’s tired eyes flickered as he was awoken from the sudden smell of greasy human food and clanging dishes. During the night he had cut it close to morning, wandering the empty streets and decided to crash into a random building. Turns out, the building was a more popular of all the other ones he could have picked. In the daylight hours, Drew would normally be sleeping next to the love of his life. Quickly, he scanned his surroundings seeing a plump waitress and a few people seated to drink. A deep yawn dispersed from his lips and his arms shot up into the air, stretching out his tired muscles. He was seated in the corner of the store on the off-white tiled flooring. He picked his body up off the floor and cautiously took a few steps forward. Each of the booths seemed to be in direct sunlight while the stools at the counter were still shaded for the time being. “Shit.” Drew muttered as he watched what he had got himself into. There were a select few vampires who were day walkers. Drew would give anything to be able to feel sunlight on his skin rather than fry like an egg on a pan. Drew stumbled into the populated part of the restaurant. His walking slightly impaired as he limped from sleeping in such an awkward position.
He seated at one of the tall bar stools and rested his head on the table again, closing his eyes. But no one would just allow him to just stay there. Before you knew it the plump waitresses hand was rested directly on his back. “Now, buddy. You’re lucky we let you stay there. Any other day we would have kicked your ass to the streets. Filthy drunks.” She muttered, walking behind the restaurant counter. Drew pushed his body back up and stared at her. She was right, they did attempt to kick him out when the shop had opened. But that was the charm of a vampire. Compelling a human to obey orders. The corners of Drews lips curved up into a smile as he began to speak. “Ouch. Maybe my heart is just too broken to bear!” He said in a dramatic but joking tone of voice. Her head tilted at him as she did not seem to be mutually amused at the whole attitude. “You’re just lucky we didn’t call the cops. You did break into private property.” She said, rolling her eyes. Drew always loved messing with people, and it would make the time fly by more. “You could at least get back there and get me a coffee. it’s the least you could do.” He said, motioning his hand for her to get going. “And you better not spit in it!” He yelled out, before letting out a subtle laugh. Not like human germs or bacteria could even harm him. He couldn’t catch any crazy disease and die from human saliva.
A small TV at the end of the counter was playing the news. The volume was muted but a major story seemed to be playing. Drew quickly walked over a little and stretched his body to turn up the TV loudly so he could hear from his seat. The case was about a mysterious animal attack from a few minutes away from the restaurant. But the attack was from no “animal” That the news seemed to proclaim. Sometimes when hunger hits, Drew couldn’t control himself like Ravenna wanted him to. A smirk flooded over Drew’s face as he held in a giggle. Most humans were totally oblivious to the world of mystical creatures and made up their own versions into teenage story books. In front of him the noise of his cup of coffee hit the counter as the aggravated waitress clicked her heal in front of him. “Do you find that funny?” She asked. The smile on Drews face quickly faded as he shook his head. “No, no. I, Err. I had a joke in my head.” He said, grabbing up his pitch black coffee to take a sip. Cream of sugar was not necessary since everything these days tasted like cardboard. The waitress walked away to serve some other customers as she made delightful comments to the others in the restaurant. He listened as she served another young male in the restaurant who wanted an iced tea. Instead of grumpily answering him she called him toots. Drew looked back and shot a glance at her. “So you can play nice with him and not me?” He asked her before looking over at the man. “What makes you so special, ay?” He asked, before turning back around to begin muttering angry comments coming from his "early" awakening. Kai watched as the waitress went over to another customer, a young man roughly his age. The waitress didn't seemed very unamused by this guys presence. All Kai could hear from the conversation between the two was the waitress saying that the young man was lucky that they let him stay there and how they would have kicked him out on the street. Kai couldn't help but laugh to himself when he saw that the male had a smirk on his face opposed to the waitress who had the appearance of just eating a sour lemon. The waitress walked away grabbing one of the coffee pots and retreated back to the male seemingly aggravated. She picked up his cup, pouring the rich black coffee into the cliche coffee mug before placing it back down in front of him with a rather loud thud that seemed to have echoed through-out the Cafe. She turned on her heel and ventured back over to Kai - his ice tea in hand.
"Here you go love." She chirped, placing his ice tea down on the table rather gently as if making a point to the other young man. "All set to order?" She smiled sweetly at Kai. Then the young male chimed in. “So you can play nice with him and not me?” He asked her before looking over at the man. “What makes you so special, ay?” He asked, before turning back around to begin muttering non-coherent words to himself. Kai's grin broadened. Boy was this going to be fun, especially since the young male was indeed different. Kai could sense it. He wasn't just any ol' ordinary human - that was for sure. What he was exactly Kai couldn't quite place his finger on.
"Well." Kai spoke to the male. "I wouldn't exactly say special. I think it's just due to the fact that I haven't over welcomed my stay yet." Kai retrieved his tea from the table and raised it in the air a bit towards the male as if he was cheering. The waitress thought Kai's comment was funny, she busted out into a fit of laughter. "You're hilarious love, I'll be back in a moment." She walked back away from Kai's table through the kitchen doors - still laughing as she went.Kai watched as she walked away before glancing back over the male. "Don't worry though, the longer I'm here the more she will want to kick me out too."

DREW ANTHONY HALLOW Male • Taken • Vampire Even without sleep causing mischief was one thing that rightfully amused Drew. The fact that he was interrupting everyone’s early morning brunch and being known as a filthy drunk was more fun than he could handle some days. An act of annoyance and not being able to get kicked out of the restaurant got even more of a kick out of him. But this black, cardboard-tasting coffee wasn’t doing anything for him. Coffee was more of an early night kind of drink, but maybe the caffeine would do him good. What he really wanted was a real drink, something to give him a buzz. After all, on his timed schedule he was living in his party hours. The male began to speak and his words humoured Drew. He wasn’t like the sour old waitress who couldn’t handle a joke. He went along with his humour and caused Drew to immediately turn around on his stool and face the man. "Well. I wouldn't exactly say special. I think it's just due to the fact that I haven't over welcomed my stay yet." The man spoke. Automatically the corners of Drew’s lips curled up into a smile as he flashed his intriguing smile at him. “Really? I thought this was a bed and breakfast.” He said with his usually attitude. The waitress got a kick out of the mysterious mans joke as she laughed and walked away to go into the kitchen. Drew quickly grabbed his coffee cup from the counter behind him and turned back around to face the man. "Don't worry though, the longer I'm here the more she will want to kick me out too." He said. Drew nodded and raised his eyebrow at him. “You really have nothing better to do than stay in this shit hole?” He asked as he could sense the tension and evil glares from behind him in the kitchen.
Drew took a good glance at the man for a moment. Something about him screamed that he couldn’t be a human, but Drew couldn’t quite tell. He seemed to be something else, something close to a human but yet; not human at all. But overall, he seemed to not be a threat at all. And even if he was, Drew could take him. Drew was cocky in that sense though and believed he could take on the world alone even though a vampire much stronger then him was currently on his ass. Scarlet was one person on this world Drew despised. Her lies caused him to almost have an eternal heartbreak and lose the one thing he still lived for. After living on earth for an extended period of time, things got boring and repetitive. But Ravenna changed that and gave him a light at the end of the dark hallway. She was something he could see lasting an eternity with. That is, if the world didn’t put a stake directly into his heart. And being locked into a small diner was the last thing he wanted to do for the morning hours. If he was lucky, he could eventually catch some shut eye. If not, looks like he was stuck awake until tomorrows morning hours. Drew looked back at the waitress. “Actually, I noticed you have a little bar. Could I get just a simple shot of tequila?” He asked, needing something to take the edge off his sour attitude. Before the waitress could say anything Drew stared at her, which seemed to intimidate her as she poured him a shot of tequila and slid it across the counter.
“I was up all night, so don’t judge me.” He said with a smirk, turning back towards the man. “So, whats your name, stranger? I’m Drew.” He asked, brining the shot glass to his lips and downing his shot. His eyes closed for a moment as the alcohol travelled down his throat. He exhaled deeply before his eyes opened back up. The elderly couple looked at Drew in disgust along with all the other employees working the bar. If he was in their position, he probably would have been too. But hey, Drew lived far too long to care about another persons thoughts and judgements. He placed the glass on the counter beside him before snapping his fingers at the waitress to grab him another. His left hand tapped on the counter to the beat of the old rock and roll, Bon Jovi songs playing quietly on the speakers. The good old music before auto-tune came into the picture and anyone could become famous. Old music was made purely from talent as apposed to a sound editing software. OUTFIT: Click Here COMMENTS:
